Preserving a sense of humour was the most natural way of protection, a way to relax tension, that is why we can find witty, ironic parts and cartoons in the related sources. Though in most of the cases soldiers' humour defies printing, in the researched sources this side can rarely be found; obscenity, rough expressions and stories are few, the jokes, the stories are not too witty,in some case they are rather clumsy and primitive. The main target of solders' humour was the enemy; the local features and traditions of the inhabitants and the awkwardness of Bolshevik system. They often expose the everyday difficulties of a soldier' life, phenomena resulting from the order of an armv and the general human frailtv. Surprisingly, erotic jokes, stories can hardly be found in the manuscripts and pieces of political humour are also missing. The enumerated sources provide a sense of feeling about the mood of fighting soldiers and how they tried to solve the tensions encountered on the front.
