Ordinary people wore the metal icons under their clothes while the priests (especially during services) wore it above to be well-seen. Most of these crosses are originally "baptising" crosses given to children. Everyday people however, wore it all through their lives and were also buried with the cross. The study introduces these metal crosses illustrated with pieces from the volume on the Russian-Hungarian metal icon exhibition organized in the Museum ofApplied Arts (Budapest). | |
