Established for the general research of the Great Plain, the Great Plain Research Committee (1927) and Great Plain Scientific Institute (1943) during the short period of their existence provided only an organizational framework for the research of the Institute of Archaeology, that obtained additional financial resources mainly through them. The impact and influence of the Institute on museums and collections in the area increased significantly from the first half of the 1940s, when the Great Plain Archaeological Cadaster Institute was established in 1941, led by János Banner. The Szeged Institute of Archaeology held a significant role in shaping of the collections into museums in the southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain. | |
