Tartalmi kivonat:The investigation of archaic apocryphal folk prayers in a crucial part of the researches on the veneration of Virgin Mary. The author has collected folk texts from 62 villages and their surrounding farmsteads in Csongrád county. These folk prayers consist of some shorter and stale texts. Considering the names given, the images of or references to Blessed Mary, logically the so called genealogical texts sholul lead the spectrum of folk prayers. Prayers with a genesis motive are considered iconographically as Mettertia: Saint Ann -Blessed Mary -Jesus. It is noteworthy, that this list is female-centered. May this be a determinative feature of the age or a way ofstressing the importancw of motherhood? The following prayertells the nightrest and morning awakening ofVirgin Mary. The prayer starting „The cooks are crowing / Calling Mary / Wake up, Mary, wake up / Wour son is being captured" does not only recites the fata bufferings ofthe Holy Week, but it evokesthe enormous pain which Christ's capturingmeans for the believer. Among the collected texts there are some which presents the tragedy in dialogue from. Such prayers were redorded only few times. These dramatical dialogues once must have formed a complete whole. They were likely to be a mystery-play with several characters. The image of Virgin Mary reflected in these prayers is based on the memory of oral tradition, while it is an expterience of iconographic description and drama passages at the same time.
