| Tartalmi kivonat: | Hungarian ‘popular’ writers [Népi írók] form a vast and heterogeneous group, which in the Thirties represented some of the best Hungarian literature. Scattered and dispersed after the failure of Kun’s revolutionary experience, they deeply understand the problems of new Hungary, most of all after National socialists seize the power in Germany. Hungarian Prime Minister Gyula Gömbös is a personal friend of the writer Lajos Zilahy, who is particularly active in the spiritual life of his time. On 16th of April 1935 a secret meeting at Zilahy’s villa takes place between Gömbös and the writers. Two days earlier, Zilahy announced the Foundation of the New Spiritual Front, an unofficial bond between the government and the intellectuals. As an addendum, Zilahy’s item concerning the aims of the New Spiritual Front, published on 14th of April 1935, has been translated into Italian. |
