Tartalmi kivonat: | This thesis paper is based on the novel Emma by Jane Austen and it focuses on the heroine's character development in the novel. The aim of the paper is to prove that the main character, Emma goes through a change which is the consequence of her match-making activity. In the first chapter Emma's personality is described, her characteristics that will change in the course of the novel. The second chapter is devoted to the description of the society she lives in: the village of Highbury. By presenting her acquaintances and their relationship with the heroine we will see not only the difference between them and Emma but also answer the question why she started to fantasize and make matches. The third chapter is the most important part of the paper. It contains the events of her match-making activity, whose outcome will make her realize that her doings were wrong, and eventually she will find the path to her new self. |
