| Tartalmi kivonat: | In this paper, after a short introductory survey of the political, geographical and ecclesiastical characteristics of the Danube–Tisza/Tisa–Maros/ Mureş region in the Middle Ages, the author elucidates the correlation between central places and towns. Then he gives a comprehensive picture about the central places located in the area under scrutiny and stresses the special features of urban development in the southern parts of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. Finally, the author discusses the medieval history of the major towns (Temesvár/Timişoara, Csanád/Cenad, Lippa/ Lipova, Karánsebes/Caransebeş – today all in Romania) of the Danube– Tisza/Tisa-Maros/Mureş region. |
