Tartalmi kivonat:Five cannabis derivatives were studied for their plasmid elimination activity on Escherichia coli. Tetrahydrocannabidiolic acid was the only agent that expressed plasmid curing effects. The other compounds, namely, Δ8-tetrahydrocannabinol, Δ9-tetracannabinol, cannabinol and cannabidiol were without activity. The plasmid-curing activity was concentration dependent, and at higher concentrations of tetrahydrocannabidiolic acid over 30% of the cell population lost their plasmids encoded for both lactose fermentation and multiple antibiotic resistance. This plasmid curing activity was enhanced by magnesium sulfate. The transfer of plasmids from donor E. coli to recipient E. coli was inhibited by Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabinol, and tetrahydrocannabidiolic acid but not by Δ8-tetrahydrocannabinol or cannabidiol.
