| Tartalmi kivonat: | The present paper aims to describe the Udmurt ‘Come up with a new word’ competition as a language planning and a language managing activity. Examining the project – that ran in 2013 – will allow us to gain insight into the mechanisms of language planning and language management in the context of minority languages in the 21st century, and factors that play a role in a programme that attempts to induce lexical changes and influence the language choices of speakers, being carried out by the members of the same language community. At the same time, in the second part of the study, the impact of the project is examined by quantitative methods – a corpora-based analysis (Arkhangelsky & Medvedeva, 2014; Arkhangelsky, 2018; Bezenova, 2019) – in order to measure whether the neologisms created within the scope of the programme have become part of the vocabulary of the Udmurt language, thus providing evaluation for the completed activity. |
